Privacy Policy
Draft — not yet in effect
Our position
- Demand does not sell your personal information.
- We do not rank providers by who pays us the most.
- We show you aggregate group numbers, never another household's bill.
- Your maximum stay and switch prices are yours alone. Providers never receive an individual household's numbers.
What we collect
When you join a group we collect your email address, an optional first name, your ZIP code, your current internet provider, roughly what you pay each month, the speed you are paying for, what would make you switch, and how soon you could switch.
We do not collect your phone number, payment details, bank information, or credit history, and we do not connect to your financial accounts. We do not collect your street address unless you choose to add it so a provider can confirm they can reach you.
If you upload a bill
Uploading a bill is optional. If you do, the file is read once, in memory, and is never written to our storage — there is no copy of your bill on our servers, and nothing for us to delete later because nothing was kept.
To read it, the file is sent to Anthropic's API, which returns the figures and does not retain the document or use it to train models. From that reading we keep only the provider name, the monthly amount, the statement date, the service ZIP code and the speed. We do not keep — and deliberately do not ask for — your account number, your name as printed, or your street address.
We also keep a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file: a short code derived from its contents that cannot be turned back into the document. It lets us show that a verified figure came from a real bill, and lets you prove it is the same document from your own copy, without either of us keeping the bill itself.
What other members can see
Nothing about you individually. Group pages show totals and averages across a market. We suppress group figures entirely in very small markets, so that a total cannot be used to work out one household's bill.
What providers would see
No provider is part of Demand yet. We are building consumer demand first, market by market. When providers do participate, they would see aggregate demand for a market — how many households, what they pay on average, how many are open to moving, and what terms they are asking for.
They would not see your name, your email, your street address, your exact bill, or the maximum you would pay to stay or switch. That last one matters most: a provider who learned your limit would simply charge it.
The single exception is one you make yourself. If you accept an offer, we share your first name and email with that provider so they can contact you and complete setup — after a confirmation screen that says exactly that. If you decline, they never learn you existed.
Selling data
We do not sell your personal information, and the service is free for consumers. The intended business model is that providers pay when they keep or win a household through the platform — so we earn only when a household chooses something. Not by selling consumer records, and not by ranking offers according to who pays us most. No provider is paying us today.
Deleting your information
Delete your account yourself, from your account page. If you never interacted with an offer, everything about you is erased outright. If you accepted or declined one, the record of that decision is kept — an acceptance is a financial record, and a decline is the evidence that nothing about you was shared — but your name, email, address and price limits are scrubbed from it, and the account can never be signed into again.
